Frequently Asked Questions

Can SCHUMAG support prototypes?

Yes, we support customers throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial prototypes through design validation and into high-volume production. Our engineering team works closely with you during prototype development to optimize designs for manufacturability and establish robust production processes.

What tolerances can be achieved?

Our precision machining capabilities can achieve tolerances down to ±0.002mm (±2 microns) depending on the feature, material, and geometry. We utilize advanced CNC machining centers, precision grinding equipment, and state-of-the-art metrology systems including CMM and optical measurement to ensure dimensional accuracy for critical medical device components.

Which materials are processed?

We work with a wide range of biocompatible materials commonly used in medical devices, including stainless steel alloys (304, 316L, 17-4PH), titanium alloys (Ti-6Al-4V, CP Ti), cobalt-chrome, aluminum alloys, and engineering plastics including PEEK. Our material expertise extends to specialized surface treatments and finishes required for medical applications.

How is traceability ensured?

Complete traceability is maintained throughout our manufacturing process in accordance with ISO 13485 requirements. Each component includes full material traceability with heat/lot numbers, processing history documentation, inspection records, and certificates of conformance. Our ERP and quality management systems provide complete chain of custody from raw material receipt through finished component shipment.
